JUNE 1, 2008 - NAIC SIGNS MOU WITH THAILAND
On behalf of the National Association of Insurance commissioners, NAIC President and Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger today signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Secretary General Chantra Purnariksha from Thailand's Office of Insurance Commission (OIC).

The agreement recognizes the importance of developing a formal dialogue to promote greater regulatory cooperation among the two organizations. ............. (read more at the National Association of Insruance Commissioners - NAIC link)

AITRI-Toronto Centre Insurance Supervision Leadership Program

AITRI in collaboration with the Toronto Centre and with the support of the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) Thailand, Bank Negara Malaysia and Monetary Authority of Singapore successfully conducted the AITRI-Toronto Centre Insurance Supervison Leadership Programme at the Amari Watergate Hotel in Bangkok from 23 - 28 November 2008.

The host for the programme was the Office of Insurance Commission of Thailand (OIC, Thailand).  A total of 19 participants from 7 countries (Brunei, Indonesia, Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand) attended this one week programme.

YOUNG ASEAN MANAGER AWARD 2008

LATEST NEWS ON THE 4TH YOUNG ASEAN MANAGER AWARD (YAMA)

AITRI the permanent secretatiat of the Young ASEAN Manager Award  is proud to announce that the winner for 2008 award is Mr. Zachary Tan Mein Wei from ACE Insurance Singapore.

Zachary Tan received the award from Yang Mulia Awang Haji Mohd Rosli Bin Haji Sabtu, Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Brunei Darussalam on 6th November during the Welcoming Dinner of the ASEAN Insurance Regulators and ASEAN Insurance Council Meetings hosted by the Ministry of Finance, Brunei Darussalam. The panel of judges were impressed by Zachary who led his team through a period of transformation.  

Apart from the trophy and a certificate of recognition, Zachary also received a scholarship from the International Centre for Leadership in Finance (ICLIF) to attend their High Performers' Leadership Development Programme in Malaysia and Australia, a cash award of USD500 from TM Asia Insurance Singapore, an I-pod from AmAssurance Berhad and a seat to the CEO Summit plus other gift items from Asia Insurance Review.

A total of 18 contestants from 7 ASEAN countries competed for this year's prestigious award.   The other two finalists who were also present at the award ceremony were Mr. Christopher Teo from Manulife Singapore and Mr. Winyou Chaiyawan from Thai Cardif Life Assurance.
