Realising the importance of encouraging young managers to persevere for the best in the insurance economies in ASEAN, the ASEAN Insurance Council (AIC) introduced the Young ASEAN Managers Award (YAMA). The award honours outstanding young managers for their achievements, contributions and dedication in the insurance industry in this region.

History

The ASEAN Insurance Council (AIC) realising the importance of encouraging young managers to persevere for the best in the insurance economies in ASEAN,  re-introduced the Young ASEAN Managers Award (YAMA) in year 2005 where the ASEAN Young Manager was chosen on a region wide basis compared to the past where national associations made their own award which was then endorsed by the Council.

This award (YAMA) reinforces the ASEAN Insurance Council's initiative to encourage more young managers within the industry to actively contribute and excel in their field of work.  This will lead to the development of  a skilled pool of human capital within the ASEAN insurance industry.

As from 2005, this prestigious annual event has been organized by the ASEAN Insurance Training & Research Institute (AITRI) and now AITRI has received the honour to be the secretariat and organiser of this event.

Purpose

The young managers are the future leaders for the insurance industry and  there is a need to encourage more young managers to establish their talent and leadership qualities.

Therefore this award honours outstanding young managers for their achievements, contributions and dedication in the insurance industry in this region. The award is also hoped to encourage, motivate and inspire other managers to become leaders of substance in the business frontier. The competitiveness of these young managers will in turn help to shape a dynamic workforce for the insurance sector in the ASEAN region.
